世界中どこの高等教育機関も、「単なる合理的配慮」を超えて、ニューロダイバーシティを包摂することの重要性をますます理解しつつあります。具体的には、教育方法や評価の再デザイン、キャンパス文化や制度的な方針の見直しを含みつつ、神経多様な人びとのもつ独自の強みや視点を活かすことを目指しています。今回のウェビナーには、日本と米国において、工学系プログラムやキャンパスにおける神経多様な学生・教員・職員への支援のあり方を変革しようとしている二人のリーダーが登壇します。 お一人目、エリック・ブレンナーさんは、ノースイースタン大学工学部におけるニューロダイバーシティ・インクルージョンの取組みや、（Northeastern University における Neurodiversity Initiativeが牽引するニューロダイバーシティを支援・促進するためのネットワークである）the Northeast Regional Higher Education Neurodiversity Coalitionを通じた活動から得られた知見をお話しいただきます。そして、伊藤穰一さんには、千葉工業大学学長として、日本の工学教育における「ニューロダイバーシティ・インクルージョン」を推進するうえでの目標と課題について述べていただきます。おふたりとともに、大学キャンパスにおける実践や政策に関する戦略、産業界や雇用主との連携の方法、そしてニューロダイバーシティのアドボカシーにおける文化横断的な知見について議論したいと思います。

Higher education institutions around the world are increasingly recognizing the importance of neurodiversity inclusion that goes beyond simple accommodation, including reimagining pedagogy and assessment, campus cultures, and institutional policies to harness the unique strengths and perspectives of neurodivergent individuals. This webinar brings together two leaders working to transform how engineering programs and campuses support neurodivergent students, faculty, and staff in Japan and the U.S. Erik Brenner will share insights organizing neurodiversity inclusion efforts at the College of Engineering at Northeastern, and more broadly through the Northeast Regional Higher Education Neurodiversity Coalition. Joi Ito will describe some of his goals and challenges as President of Chiba Institute of Technology in advancing neurodiversity inclusion within Japanese engineering education. Together, they will discuss strategies for addressing campus practice and policy, ways of engaging with industry and employers, as well as cross-cultural perspectives on neurodiversity advocacy.
